Sony teases new ‘slim’ announcement

Sony is inviting select press to a breakfast briefing next week for the release of… something slim. Could it be the PS Vita 2000?

“Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest,” reads the invite.”

The event takes place January 30th at 9am in London. Last year Sony released the PS Vita 2000 in Japan – it’s 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the existing model, and features an LCD screen rather than OLED. It also comes with 1GB of built-in memory.

Jayden- I remember reading this at the time of publication, and I was actually interested.
Now from what I've read from users, it was a waste of time and they wouldn't really recommend it to anybody. Disappointed again, Sony.

I agree the Vita is still not doing anywhere near as good of sales as their only competitor The 3DS which is killing the mobile gaming market right now even though it is shrinking.

Dong My friend won one of these out of a machine in Safeway. Couldn't believe it, I might be buying the slim.

dont it's a waste of money if you ask me unless your into portable gaming things.

I also recommend not buying one if you aren't interested in the few games that the handheld has. I would go for the 3DS if i where you

I already have a VITA, but one think I am kinda of disappointed in about the current VITA, is it does not have 1GB of built-in memory like the VITA 2000...
