Titanfall has been tough to market due to lack of single-player

4.5
Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment, has had a rough time of accurately marketing the shooter, given its lack of single-player mode. That’s the claim of producer Drew McCoy, who recently shed some new light on the matter.

It follows uproar around Titanfall’s 12 player cap, something we felt was nothing to worry about.

Now, in a post on NeoGAF, McCoy wrote, “Its actually been really tough trying to accurately market Titanfall. If you look at what we’ve done, its a lot different than what most FPS games do. Without a bunch of highly scripted SP moments to recam from different angles, the usual ‘movie like’ trailer is just about right out.

“Instead, we’ve decided to show unedited gameplay segments that last 3-5 minutes (so far – more footage coming, of course!) to show the “flow” of the game. Starting as a Pilot, taking on AI and other player Pilots, wall running around a Titan, earning your Titan, climbing in, battling other Titans while stomping on humans, ejecting, etc. There’s a huge amount of gameplay mechanics available at any one time, and encompassing them in a few minutes is actually quite hard to do.

“Its also why we took an extremely early pre-alpha build of the game to events like Gamescom, PAX, etc. to let normal dudes hands-on time with the game. There’s no amount of polished marketing that can replace playing the actual game.”

On the whole player count thing, McCoy replied to one forum member, “What about high player counts makes that more fun, though? I honestly want to know, because this kind of stuff is super important and we obsess over it every day.”

Craigyy Lack of Single player, well that's just made me not want it as much....

I agree, just sometimes I like to play by myself and I wouldn't want to play Mulitplayer all the time. What happens if the servers go offline? Then just nobody can play in the world?

Valor Much of the gaming fanbase wants multi-player. Good single player games are of a dying breed.

That's kind of true, i mean like halo and cod, they have amazing campaigns but people are more interested in multiplayer rather than single player.

Looped Kinda looks like Halo from that picture... Not too sure about this game :/

Yah the picture does but I dont think it will be much like Halo.

It does resemble Halo slightly, but I wouldn't worry if I were Respawn. This game is gonna be great. It would be pretty cool to have a COD and Halo mix up

Laze Most people these days are in for the online, however I do love playing single player. I enjoy great storylines, if it doesn't pack'a punch then I will avoid playing it. End of.

Yah I also do love to play single player.

I'm not really into Single Player but having a good campaign is always a bonus to great games.
