Xbox One Users Complaining About UI Slowdown

4.4
The Xbox One’s main claim to fame, aside from a ton of about-turns in its key policies, is the new interface which allows you to seamlessly transition from playing games to watching movies and other functions, all within a second. This interface seems to be having problems lately though. A thread on Reddit has reported that lately, the UI tends to slow down after enough time is spent using it.

One user suggested that you should, “Just hold power button for 10 seconds. Xbox One has a memory dump issue that’s been reported.” Some have reported this as ineffective though. Another suggestion was that, “You can also change your power setting to power saving. That way, when you turn off your console, it’s a full shut down; not a hibernating mode you get with the instant on option. Then, when you turn on the console afterwards, the stuttering should be gone.”

It’s not just Reddit users – even media figures on Twitter have reported issues, including The Verge’s deputy managing editor Chris Ziegler.

"my xbox one's UI is basically stop motion animation now. time to relent and do a hard power cycle. is this going to be a regular thing?"

"Once again I have to unplug my Xbox One because the UI was chugging at 1fps. XB1's OS is tiles of hot garbage"

Oval Hopefully this gets fixed soon. I'm getting an XB One and want it to be the best experience. Then again it did just come out so I cant really say anything about it.

mine has been fine. they based this story off of reddit... very trustworthy source you got there.
even so, at its slowest points it is still 100x faster than 360's UI

It's not just Reddit, it says media figures, including The Verge. Don't sugarcoat it, it's a legitimate problem.

A legitimate problem? Seriously? For who? 7 of my friends and I all got our Xbox Ones on Day One and none of us have seen anything even remotely similar to what this article claims. All of our UIs are lightning fast and we never do a full shutdown. We just say "Xbox turn off" to put the system into standby mode. Why is there no mention of this on IGN or any other major gaming site? TTG is the only non-playstation biased website to have ever said this. Reddit is usually full of NeoGaf users/playstation fanboys and The Verge is KNOWN to be biased. Sorry but, if this problem even actually exists, it is confined to an immeasurably small number of people.

you couldnt have said it better. i absolutely hate it when there is one little report on something, and bam. all of a sudden instead of 1 person, ppl say it is millions of people affected by this. if i was having the problem, sure i would complain and want answers. but since im only one person, i cant expect it to be their biggest concern.

I never said it was millions, I was just correcting him saying it's not only on reddit. But also members from the Verge and other media hubs have reported the issue, calm down it will be ok.

It's natural for the Xbox One to have a few issues I suppose. It's like when a game comes out - it has bugs and/or glitches.

Hopefully this is fixed fairly soon.

CHP they need to spent a good amount of time going over everything and making sure it is stable

I agree it would be great if they did that.
