Xbox One Users Complaining About UI Slowdown

4.4
The Xbox One’s main claim to fame, aside from a ton of about-turns in its key policies, is the new interface which allows you to seamlessly transition from playing games to watching movies and other functions, all within a second. This interface seems to be having problems lately though. A thread on Reddit has reported that lately, the UI tends to slow down after enough time is spent using it.

One user suggested that you should, “Just hold power button for 10 seconds. Xbox One has a memory dump issue that’s been reported.” Some have reported this as ineffective though. Another suggestion was that, “You can also change your power setting to power saving. That way, when you turn off your console, it’s a full shut down; not a hibernating mode you get with the instant on option. Then, when you turn on the console afterwards, the stuttering should be gone.”

It’s not just Reddit users – even media figures on Twitter have reported issues, including The Verge’s deputy managing editor Chris Ziegler.

"my xbox one's UI is basically stop motion animation now. time to relent and do a hard power cycle. is this going to be a regular thing?"

"Once again I have to unplug my Xbox One because the UI was chugging at 1fps. XB1's OS is tiles of hot garbage"

Buttershy Not surprising, there's been so many issues with both Next-Gen consoles.

Kind of the reason why I held off on getting one, both consoles have problems when they first are released.

Plus there really isn't any good games until 2014.

MKP During CoD, the UI is so laggy and things crash a lot.

I never really thought anything in regards to crashing would be going on. A rocky start is to be expected with a new console i guess

So it's clearly a memory issue and build up of RAM usage. Some games have this on PC, whereby playing the game constantly will increase the amount of RAM in ussage virtually but it doesn't. It just tells the PC it does so it slows itself down.

If there was a way to clear the consoles cache then i'm sure this will be solved quite easily.

This hasn't happened to me yet. Still seems like a bad problem. I haven't even turned mine off in the last 3 days and everything is still working perfectly. I still don't like the UI at all, but thats a different story.

Chuck_Bartowski I don't have this problem with my Xbox One.

Apparently it isn't happening to all Xbox One users, there are just reports that a few of them are having problems such as this

I haven't noticed any UI issues so far? Maybe I'm lucky or just don't play that much :P
