Xbox One: “Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price,”

4.4
PS4 vs Xbox One is a hot ticket right now, and it’s got Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter analysing his way into our headlines once more. Now, he feels the £80 discrepancy between both formats is a significant game-changer that could cost Microsoft the generation.

It follows Pachter’s disbelief at why Nintendo President Satoru Iwata still had a job.

Speaking with GI.biz, Pachter said, “The reason Sony beats Microsoft is solely the price. Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price. If Microsoft drops its price to $399, I expect the sales to be equal to the PS4.”

That’s a short-term fix however, but what about the long-term? Pachter commented on sales projections that state both PS4 and Xbox One will out-sell their predecessors, “I don’t know where they get those numbers. I don’t think you’re ever going to see 500 million consoles out there. The next generation of consoles is probably the last. We expect frequent model updates instead of new consoles. I think the PC is going to make a comeback, the PC will be the hub of all this stuff.”

I know Microsoft won't lose to PS4 but they could lower the price a bit that would be really nice.

I don't think xbox will lose to PS4 just because of the price. but they could greatly benefit from selling souly the console and not the kinect.

I'm not arsed because I got the Day ONE edition with Forza 5 plus I bought a play and charge kit, cod and battlefield plus the Xbox ONE is kind of useless without Kinnect

Georgasm All they need to do is ship consoles without a Kinect bundled, I bet half the majority of Xbox One owners don't even use it.

Without an Kinect Bundle sounds like an great idea IMO. Or at least optional. Users won't even use the Kinect.

KronikShadow I love the PC I just don't find it as exciting to bring around or to say that my friends should hang out and play PC because once it is set up it is a hard object to move.

I read an article were it cost Microsoft $479 to make the Xbox One. I cannot see them cutting the price as they're only making $21 anyway. Not happening.

They should cut their price a little its kind of too much

I don't see this happening one bit. It costs a lot of money to make the xbox one and Microsoft cutting their price means no profit.

G36cBossMan Microsoft do a price cut? Lmao that's the most redicoulus thing I have ever heard... They have so much money idk if they even care after they slapped us in the face with the drm policies that they were basically forced to remove Microsoft showed there true colors they exposed them selves for the money hungry company that doesn't give 1 $hit about its fans just the money...

Still offers more than the PS4 & it looks the exact same as the PS4 graphic wise & dare I say a decent computer. So just because it's more doesn't mean they're money hungry. They just want to make a buck or two, just like any major company on this planet

ppl also need to realize, they arent actually even making that much money on the console itself. and once the kinect is intertwined with games, it will be revolutionizing. then everyone who actually thought ps4 was gonna be better will go back to crying in a corner.

I don't see free games being given out with PS4's. I got a game worth $80 with my XB1 (FIFA 14) so definitely makes up the difference.
