Xbox One: “Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price,”

4.4
PS4 vs Xbox One is a hot ticket right now, and it’s got Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter analysing his way into our headlines once more. Now, he feels the £80 discrepancy between both formats is a significant game-changer that could cost Microsoft the generation.

It follows Pachter’s disbelief at why Nintendo President Satoru Iwata still had a job.

Speaking with GI.biz, Pachter said, “The reason Sony beats Microsoft is solely the price. Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price. If Microsoft drops its price to $399, I expect the sales to be equal to the PS4.”

That’s a short-term fix however, but what about the long-term? Pachter commented on sales projections that state both PS4 and Xbox One will out-sell their predecessors, “I don’t know where they get those numbers. I don’t think you’re ever going to see 500 million consoles out there. The next generation of consoles is probably the last. We expect frequent model updates instead of new consoles. I think the PC is going to make a comeback, the PC will be the hub of all this stuff.”

The only way they can cut the price is to remove the kinect, I don't think MS will do that though.

Human Why don't Microsoft just remove the damn kinect

I personally really like the kinect.

I've never actually used a Kinect before and I don't really plan on using one.

Because they need it its the the heart and brain of the One it controls all the voice commands and more come on man that was a no brainer lol

The Xbox One is nothing without the Kinect, its mandatory. It can not operate without it. Even if they find a way to do it wouldnt that be a massive slap in the face for the people that were forced to get it included even if they didnt really want it?

FriskyPanda Companies need profit. It cost around $369 to make a ps4. And around $465 to make an Xbox one. Microsoft will not reduce sales for a while that would be idiotic and stupid. It's like asking mcdonalds to give around 300 free burgers everyday. Profit for companies means better service and products.

Companies are suppose to be selling consoles for a loss. They earn back the profits via games and services if i remember correctly. I think it's around $469 actually to make the PS4 and $530-ish (due to kinect) to make the Xbone. Either way, the model of the gaming industry is suppose to be a light loss then major profits (reason behind why games can be so expensive and sales aren't like that of STEAM).

Jayden- I would buy it if they lowered the price just a little bit. For me it's still too expensive considering I've got a perfectly good Xbox 360 at the moment.

Same, I will most likely buy one when they stop supporting the Xbox 360 anyway

I will be buying one a little earlier then that, but i'll be sticking with the 360 for a while at this point

It all really depends if I have the money and I get back into gaming enough to purchase one.
