Free ad-supported Xbox Music streaming on Xbox One

4.6
Albert Penello, Microsoft's head of product planning for Xbox One, has confirmed that Xbox Music will be a free ad-supported service on the next-gen console.

Already available on Xbox 360, Windows Mobile, Windows 8 and RT devices, and most recently iOS and Android devices, the year-old music streaming service houses some 30 million tracks.

Existing versions of Xbox Music for Windows 8.1 and the web allow users to stream ad-supported music, but the current Xbox 360 version is subscription-only.

According to The Verge, an Xbox Live Gold subscription will still be required to access the music app on Xbox One.

Microsoft has confirmed a Xbox One release date of November 22, 2013. The European PS4 release date is November 29.

Brad- Hm, not bad! Now I can play streamed music through my TV instead of my computer :)

This is really what Microsoft is trying to achieve with the Xbox One. It is trying to simplify everything. Why move away from your Xbox one to your laptop to stream music when you can do it on your Xbox One

This will be good if it's only an advert every 15 min or so, not after every song. Also if you can use SnapTo to play the music in game, that'll be good.

I like the free music streaming but I hate ads more than I do streaming music when I can just download it for free

Note this is not true anymore, I was the guy who tweeted Albert, he made a mistake (I also put it on reddit, in which he replied).

Urf Like people are gonna use this over Pandora or iHeartRadio.

Yeah, I agree with you! I use Pandora, pretty much all the time, when I wanna listen to music!
