Free ad-supported Xbox Music streaming on Xbox One

4.6
Albert Penello, Microsoft's head of product planning for Xbox One, has confirmed that Xbox Music will be a free ad-supported service on the next-gen console.

Already available on Xbox 360, Windows Mobile, Windows 8 and RT devices, and most recently iOS and Android devices, the year-old music streaming service houses some 30 million tracks.

Existing versions of Xbox Music for Windows 8.1 and the web allow users to stream ad-supported music, but the current Xbox 360 version is subscription-only.

According to The Verge, an Xbox Live Gold subscription will still be required to access the music app on Xbox One.

Microsoft has confirmed a Xbox One release date of November 22, 2013. The European PS4 release date is November 29.

MS will still most likely post ads on the dashboard and can also make them gender/age specific with Kinect 2.0

Oasis This will be good if it's only an advert every 15 min or so, not after every song. Also if you can use SnapTo to play the music in game, that'll be good.

I think playing a 30 second ad after every 10-15 songs wouldn't be bad at all.
That would be able every 30 minutes or more.

JimboSlice I have a feeling this will come with a catch...

The only catch would be 30 second ads in the middle of games.
That could get annoying but at least it is free.

i agree it almost seems to good to be true.
You probably read it wrong. It will contain adds, but be free (I think).

It is free.
The will make millions just from the ad's alone.

They will probably make a premium service that doesn't include ads that you could pay for.

I wonder if this will be up to par with Pandora.
If it is, I will be using this so much.
