Custom Luigi 2DS up for auction, 25% of proceeds to Child's Play

4.5
Remember Rose Colored Gaming's Luigi 2DS, the modified handheld that looks good enough to be a real Nintendo product? Now that it's up for auction, you can celebrate the Year of Luigi in style by establishing yourself as the bro's biggest fan. The bidding period will conclude on November 17 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, with 25 percent of the proceeds going to the Child's Play Charity.

Despite the interest the singular unit has drawn, the auction page explains that the unit was built under the vision of a "one-of-a-kind item, and as such, there will not be a run of more than one." The green and white color scheme is complimented with an indentation of Luigi on the back of the device.

Vampiric They didn't try very hard with the design did they, in all fairness.

To be honest, no, it doesn't look too special in any way. In my opinion.

I have to agree with that. While it's a novelty having a one of a kind item it isn't very special in my opinion

Most people would prefer this, if there favorite color was green. When I bought my 3DS, I bought a purple one because I didn't like the Red, Blue or Black one. So, for people who can't get a Green 2DS, this would be perfect. Plus, an indention of Luigi on the back? That's cool as ****. If it were Pokemon themed and had an indention of a Pokemon, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, if I needed it.

I would bid on a Pokmeon themed version. A mario version doesn't really do it for me though

Frog This is a great and kind act, 25% is so much money. Imagine the money Sony and Microsoft would raise from their new consoles if they were so charitable. Of course they would never be so generous as they're some of the greediest and most selfish companies about. They could raise millions though, shame...

uhh.. microsoft just auctioned off a white xbox one, before nintendo did. so yeah....

Georgasm Can't believe only 25% of proceeds go to charity.

25% is still a fair bit when you put it into consideration. You need to take into account that the Luigi design of this handheld was made by Rose Colored Gaming and not Nintendo.

I appreciate the fact that the product is third party, but the quality is on par with something Nintendo would produce themselves.

Would've been nice for Nintendo to acknowledge the product.

I'm pretty sure that 25% is going to be much more than you've ever donated to a charity

Yeah, you're correct. The problem being I'm not Nintendo, a multi-million dollar company. Even though the artwork on the 3DS is third party, I would've thought it be nice for Nintendo to back, if not make a donation themselves.

Yea really, how much is this even going to sell for? $1000 at the very highest?
