Microsoft builds giant Xbox One console in Vancouver

4.5
Microsoft seems to like making huge props to promote their hardware. Last week, the company erected a massive working Surface 2 tablet in London. Now, the company has topped that project with a huge Xbox One console that it has placed in a parking lot on the streets of Vancouver.

The fan site Xbox One In Canada first reported on the huge structure, which is 40 feet long and 20 feet wide. If you are in Vancouver, you can head over to the intersection of Nelson and Seymour to see it for yourself. However, the oversized Xbox One has not been placed there just to sit and look a bit like the Monolith in 2001. The official Xbox Canada Facebook page says that people can "pledge" their Xbox Live gamertag at the physical location, online at Xbox.ca/OneSource or via Xbox Live. Each pledge will cause the huge box to get closer to an unstated goal that when reached will cause the large Xbox One to open up with a mystery reward.

Obviously, this is a cool way to promote the launch of the Xbox One on November 22nd in Canada. The huge prop will apparently be making a tour of other Canadian cities but dates and specific locations have yet to be announced.

I wish instead of spending money on promotions like they invested it into making the consumers console better. Because of the lack of power the system seem to have i am going to cancel my pre-order that i have had since June.

The console looks pretty sweet! They should build one in the US! Instead, of Canada!

Scholarly To be honest that looks pretty sweet. I'm too excited

Can't really say they're doing anything they can to beat them. They do it with other products. It's a business, they're advertising. Simple.

Sony are the one's desperate to win with all the attempted mocking of Microsoft. Microsoft are more mature and professional.

So making fun of another company for their stupid mistakes is being desperate? Boy...

Give this man/dude a cookie!

Even though I'm moving to playstation 4. I couldn't agree more with what you said. I'll still be keeping my xbox 360 of course, and I'll most likely get an xbox one anyways in the future.
