Xbox One party chat accommodates eight 'at launch'

4.5
Xbox One will limit the number of party chat participants to eight at a time, Microsoft has confirmed.

"At launch, up to eight people will be able to join a Party Chat at a time on Xbox One," a spokesperson told Game Informer.

This is the same limitation placed on Xbox 360 and, as Sony has recently confirmed, is also identical to the party chat limit on PS4.

That Microsoft stipulates that the eight-person limit is 'at launch' could suggest a possible party size increase at a later date, but for the time being this remains conjecture.

Xbox One players will not be able to voice chat with Xbox 360 players due to technical differences, but profiles on each console will be visible to the other, and users will be able to exchange written messages between the two systems.

Microsoft released a sound comparison between Xbox One and Xbox 360 voice chat to demonstrate the improved quality on the new console, which uses Skype tech for its voice communication.

Parties with 8 are usually painful so if I was in charge I wouldn't make it more than 10, at the most.

I just hope eventually they will make it were you can talk to people on the Xbox 360 in the near future

I'm happy with the better Quality but sometimes 8 isn't enough. :(

8 is still a good number and more would be nice, but a lot of people in a party gets annoying. Maybe we should get the option to set how many people we want in a party.

8 is a lot but I'd still like to see it raised to 10.

Interesting... I'm not sure if it's just me, but when there's more than 5 in a party it's utter chaos...

I never normally have over 4 in a party anyway, far too noisy
