Xbox One party chat accommodates eight 'at launch'

4.5
Xbox One will limit the number of party chat participants to eight at a time, Microsoft has confirmed.

"At launch, up to eight people will be able to join a Party Chat at a time on Xbox One," a spokesperson told Game Informer.

This is the same limitation placed on Xbox 360 and, as Sony has recently confirmed, is also identical to the party chat limit on PS4.

That Microsoft stipulates that the eight-person limit is 'at launch' could suggest a possible party size increase at a later date, but for the time being this remains conjecture.

Xbox One players will not be able to voice chat with Xbox 360 players due to technical differences, but profiles on each console will be visible to the other, and users will be able to exchange written messages between the two systems.

Microsoft released a sound comparison between Xbox One and Xbox 360 voice chat to demonstrate the improved quality on the new console, which uses Skype tech for its voice communication.

It would be a great idea if they were to increase the maximum capacity for party chat on the Xbox One, perhaps 12-16? I think that would be great.

Ortho There's a rumor it will be bumped up to 32

32 is way too many people for one party. Everyone would get interrupted.

Then you don't invite that many people. I would be able to have a party of 32 because of my friends.

Amp- 8 is enough for the most part. But it would be cool to have a party of 20+ as long as everyone in there is mature.

Yeah, I agree. Sometimes, 8 just isn't enough.

What? Seriously? I can't handle that much. That is by far, too many people. Unless they are all mature people.

Well it's you're friends list lmao

Despoilment Eight is too much! Having six is already chaotic.

Are you like slow? It's always been 8

I think he meant that more than 6 people is "chaotic." Anyways, I find it depends on the time of people you are with. If you are with a group of individuals that are not screaming all the time more than 8 would be a positive.

Depends on your friends. My parties are filled with mature people so there's no "baby" nonsense.

Exactly, I usually hit the limit on the amount of people and my parties are just fine.

I would love to see there be more spots available. Would be amazing.

It will happen eventually and it will be pretty sweet. Custom games in halo 5 would be sick with 32 people in the party

I really think 32 is way too much. 16 would maybe be a better number, but there is always gamechat if your party is full.
