Grand Theft Auto 5 takes top spot on Xbox Live

4.5
Grand Theft Auto 5 has beaten Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for the title of most-played game on Xbox 360, according to a recent blog post by Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson.

Note that this doesn't necessarily mean more people are playing GTA Online, the multiplayer component of GTA 5, as Major Nelson's data tracks how many unique users are signed onto Xbox Live while playing a game, regardless of whether or not they're using online features.

Not everyone has moved onto the newest of the new though, as the top ten list also includes GTA 4, as well as Modern Warfare 3 and the original Black Ops. Meanwhile, Minecraft is still holding onto third, surrounded by guns, criminals and sports.

-Mark That's pretty remarkable considering how bad the servers have been.

The numbers will be even bigger when the servers are stable.

They are stable...and so far they have been great at updates.

Players are still have a lot of issues. The cloud servers aren't stable yet. There have been numerous reports involving players progress not being saved, lose of characters, and many more.

I think GTA will be up there for a while, maybe until next year when new titles are released.

Dr-J For now, until everyone gets bored.
Once ghosts comes out that will take #1.

I don't think so, it'll take a while untill people get bored.

Maybe, it depends on the persons personality
Ghosts won't get number 1. Nobody I know will be buying any new COD's until they start putting some effort in them...

That's what everyone says every year.
But it always ends up happening(not saying I'm happy with it)

This year is different. There's actually a lot more people than last year that are finally realizing the truth behind shit CoD.

I would hope it would take the spot. It had millions of players on the day online came out.
