Activision Planning November Release For Vietnam-era Call of Duty?

4.7
There’s been quite a bit of chatter this week about where and when Activision’s juggernaut Call of Duty franchise will be heading for its next tour, and if recent reports are to be believed, players will be shipping off to Vietnam this holiday season.

Sources tell CVG that Call of Duty: World at War developer Treyarch have set a tentative release date of November for the acclaimed shooter’s seventh installment. Continuing the series’ cinema-inspired presentation, the game is expected to borrow heavily from films such as Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket (Can you say R. Lee Ermey as a drill instructor?).

With EA taking a stab at modern warfare with their Medal of Honor reboot, it would be quite fitting for Activision to try their hand at Nam, six years after the release of EA’s Battlefield: Vietnam. Also, considering Treyarch’s last effort took place in the tropical environs of the Pacific Theater, it would seem they already have a head start on the whole jungle warfare thing.

While it certainly makes sense for CoD to finally take on the fertile setting of the Vietnam War, Activision and Treyarch are keeping quiet for now. I’ve contacted Activision to see if they have anything to say about all of this, so stay tuned.

Do you think this game could be better than Modern Warfare 2?

Sounds excellent too be honest, like people have said before, it could blow MW2 out of the water (just like in that picture :P)

I loved WaW but I think it needed some more attachments :D

Modern setting is getting boring, and Worl at war wasentthe best of WW, maybe a change of sceenery wont hurt

As long as they look at their few mistakes with CoD 5 they will have so much more potential if beating MW2.

ModernWarfare2 had such high potential but because of all the anticipation it failed......epically.

Hopefully a return of Zombies eh ?

For me, the last time treyarch bought out a game they destroyed infinity ward so I expect them to do this again. I will say that it would be a shame for the game to be set in vietnam for the sole reason that it seems to be a war that only Americans are educated on, it would be nice to see another game that had a heavy involvment from Europe, after all, a massive chunk of their profits come from European countries.

Vietnam is awesome its gonna be kinda of a combination of mw2 and waw because there would be the m16, ak47, and m14. But there would also be the m1 carbine, thompson, and m1 garand. There would also be way more. There would be more guns than that but thats just some examples. The ac-130 could be in it since that was when it was invented but no theremal. But there won't be as many attachments.
