Sony executive takes dig at MS, highlights consistent 'fair' policies

4.7
Sony executive Andrew House has maintained his company's defensive and snide attitude towards Microsoft by criticising inconsistent Xbox One DRM policies on stage at Gamescom 2013. During their press conference earlier today in Germany, House swiped Microsoft with a relatively direct insult:

While others has shifted their message and changed their story, we were consistent in maintaining a message that is fair and in tune with consumer desires, We strove to deliver a platform that delivers both power and great value. And the response we’ve received has been nothing short of incredible.

This strongly suggested that users should trust a platform which makes the right choice from day one, rather than one led by a company that 'flip-flops'. He was met by cheers from the audience, most of which may already have their hearts set on the PlayStation 4, which is set to be released on November 15th in the US.

Microsoft originally defended their controversial used game policy which restricted the sharing of games, but quickly retracted this policy following a considerable outcry from gamers.

Sony have a reputation of insulting Microsoft's Xbox One, notably at E3 where it announced that it would allow users to share games, and even released a video demonstrating the process, where one person hands the disc to another.

G9H The whole DRM thing is ridiculous in my opinion, All of this is not needed.

Well they get rid of DRM, well Sony went in because Microsoft listened to their consumers, I think they did the right thing changing.

Scared_of_Water Remember what Eric Lempel said "Sony has no plans to charge for the PSN service". Now who do you trust more a company who said they'll never make you paid to play and have or a company that remove the DRM

Good point, kind of took me a while to understand, but good point

How long ago did he say that, and there are still plenty of things that you can do without paying for PS+ like use YOUR media apps that you pay for separately already like netflix, party chat, still play some games online and all of those are things you can't do with gold. Plus you get waaaaay more free games with PS+ and they are really improving their online quality which is not free so If I have to pay 50 dollars for a year of PS+ and get a much better experience and I don't even want to know (actually do) how many more free games that we'll get than xbox will.

Are you having a laugh mate? So first sony say they will never charge for the online and that becomes the big point against the 360 and now they have done a U-turn it's ok because they release better free games nicee one. But you already know you have to pay for xbl so what's your point. We get a far better online service hands down, i forgot that sony signed deals with cod and fifa for exclusive content and are hosting dedi servers costing $700 million, end the day sony will lose. The previous console advantages just failed on this gen e.g paid online, Better hardware specs, Blu Ray exclusive, free games.

At least it's not REQUIRED to use it you simpleton, that was my point... You can still do 100% more without ps+ than if you didn't buy Gold(that includes playing a lot of online games). Why don't you compare pre orders on Amazon, Bestbuy, Gamestop, or some of the other biggest retailers if "sony will lose". You have Microsoft's dick sooooo far up your a** that it really doesn't matter what anyone else says because you couldn't hop off if you tried...

Sony said they have NO PLANS to charge for the PSN service. This means that they currently, as of the time that they said this, had no plans to charge for the PSN service. They didn't say that they were never going to charge for PSN. They could have changed their plans in the future, which they did.
