Gamescom 2013: Vita price cut to $199 in US, €199 in Europe

4.7
Sony is looking to pump life back into the Vita by dropping the flagging portable's price to $199 in the US and €199 in Europe, down from its launch tag of $250/300. The company announced the cut at its Gamescom press conference, and it comes after the portable's drop in Japan to ¥19,980 (around $204) earlier this year. Sony Europe CEO Jim Ryan also noted that "signifiant reductions of the price of PS Vita memory cards in both regions" are coming.

Sony shifted 7 million Vitas and PSPs in the company's last fiscal year (April 2012-March 2013), and predicts that figure to drop to 5 million in the fiscal year ending March 2014. Sony must hope a price drop, along with the Vita's connectivity with PS4, will help boost the portable's sluggish sales.

Does anyone actually have this? Sony should stick to the console market since Nintendo pretty much dominates handhelds.

Pufferfish If this was included in a PS4 bundle, I think it would beat Xbox One by a long run.

In my eyes It already has mate, XBOX one looks like a waste of money to me..

Still to high in price I was hoping they were going to bundle it with the PS4 for a cheaper price then I would buy it but I am not paying just shy of 200 for a portable PS Vita when its only 150 shy of actually buying the PS4.
