PS Plus not required to record & stream PS4 games, says Yoshida

Sony Worldwide Studios boss and Twitter info desk Shuhei Yoshida revealed PS4 owners won't require a PlayStation Plus subscription to access the system's game recording and streaming functions. After yesterday's news that the Xbox One's Game DVR recording is tied to Xbox Live Gold, several Twitter users asked Yoshida if Plus was needed for the PS4's similar functionality. Yoshida not once, not twice, but thrice replied in the negative.

When approached, A Sony Computer Entertainment UK spokesperson told Joystiq a PS Plus subscription doesn't confer any extra functionality regards recording and streaming games. As confirmed to CVG, the PS4 can continually record 15 minutes of gameplay in the background, which users can edit and publish online, as well as stream video.

Boar I find it amusing how Xbox announces you need gold to use the DVR then soon after Sony try to scrape up scraps by making it free, its getting desperate now to be honest.


Agreed i wonder if the sony fans are seeing what sony are doing seriously


I think it is now kind of funny how much Sony is beating Microsoft in everything. Who cares if they made the discussion after Microsoft said it requires gold to use dvr. At least they don't force you to buy ps plus for every aspect of the console.

I love how xbox fanboys are saying sony is getting desperate when they are just trying to please the people buying the console. Not everyone wants the multiplayer experience but they still want to put videos up so I think this was very smart on their part.

-_- playstation is honestly scared of the xbox one, if you havent noticed why is playstation releasing their information after ever xbox one update it basicly let jump of the bridge together if you get on the news for suicide ill do it(based my fans or hate like drm for exampel), if not then i wont (playstation will change their opinion and make it seem like their the better console)

Parecy Probably because you can't use external game capture devices PLUS if that's not big enough on Xbox One it saves to the cloud. On this you're going to have to save it to your hard drive and DAYUM that's gonna take a whole lot of memory...
