Microsoft secures Xbox One domains following dispute

4.7
Microsoft has secured ownership of the domain names XboxOne.com and XboxOne.net following a dispute with their previous holder.

Fusible reports that Microsoft was successful in its bid to take control of the domains after it lodged a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum in late May.

Microsoft pursuit of the domains was aided by The Richard Law Group, which also helped the platform holder secure XboxPhone.com and XboxTablet.com last year.

Fusible notes that Microsoft has become the first company to secure the matching dotcom domain of its next-gen console.

PlayStation4.com re-directs to PlayStation focused games website PSX Extreme, while Playstation4.com is owned by Poise Media Inc.

Nintendo recently failed to secure the WiiU.com domain name after filing a cybersquatting complaint.

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One will be available in 21 markets this November. The Xbox One price has been set at £425 / €499 / $499.

As part of a sweeping restructuring plan at Microsoft, former Windows chief Julie Larson-Green was last week named boss of the Devices and Studios Engineering Group, which encompasses all hardware development, including Xbox.

RATF how much did they pay for it?

Most likey 2billon for the two domains

Yes that sounds like the correct price range, you could buy a tropical island for that much and turn it into a resort for reptiles and not get a better deal on that toaster.

Woobie I hope the price comes down even though I know it's doubtful..

Yeah, knowing Microsoft it is highly unlikely that they lower the price. They want all the money they could possibly get.

The price will god down on special event such as Canada day Black friday Xmas and other ones Its going to be the same with the Xbox 360

Sure they could of bough him out but a huge company like Microsoft can just request the name without even needing to contact the owner.

Some youtubers do it.

I hope that guy got good money for that domain.

If you were running a multi-billion fast-paced company, do you think you would want to tell the masses of people who are buying from you how much of their money you dropped on a website?

I know I wouldn't, I think only Microsoft knows the answer of that.
