Microsoft secures Xbox One domains following dispute

4.7
Microsoft has secured ownership of the domain names XboxOne.com and XboxOne.net following a dispute with their previous holder.

Fusible reports that Microsoft was successful in its bid to take control of the domains after it lodged a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum in late May.

Microsoft pursuit of the domains was aided by The Richard Law Group, which also helped the platform holder secure XboxPhone.com and XboxTablet.com last year.

Fusible notes that Microsoft has become the first company to secure the matching dotcom domain of its next-gen console.

PlayStation4.com re-directs to PlayStation focused games website PSX Extreme, while Playstation4.com is owned by Poise Media Inc.

Nintendo recently failed to secure the WiiU.com domain name after filing a cybersquatting complaint.

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One will be available in 21 markets this November. The Xbox One price has been set at £425 / €499 / $499.

As part of a sweeping restructuring plan at Microsoft, former Windows chief Julie Larson-Green was last week named boss of the Devices and Studios Engineering Group, which encompasses all hardware development, including Xbox.

Domains just seem to try and get taken from people. Nintendo tried to get a domain from someone, they failed, Microsoft tried to get this domain from the original owner and succeeded. I think if they get the domain before a company even tries to get it, the original owner should be allowed to have it and give it up on their own free will if they wish to.

Yea that person earned that domain name fair. Bust because there a big company doesnt mean the can do what ever they want

I would be angry, your domain means it is your domain

If you buy a domain name it's yours they shouldn't be able to grab it from someone. If I took it and they offered me money for it I'd take the money

Homunculous People shouldn't be allowed to make domain names that should obviously belong to the real company.

A Domain is a Domain, if someone buys it before Microsoft they have the right to.

But you can't win against Microsoft in court so whats the point.

RATF plus microsoft make round about 80 million dollars a year so yah they dont care

Doesn't matter how much they make, it's business.

Any loss of money matters for a business, even if it's $1, a profit is a profit
