PlayStation Network maintenance this Tuesday

4.6
PlayStation Network maintenance has been scheduled for this Tuesday June 25.

Sony says the "routine" maintenance will run from approximately 5.30pm BST / 6.30pm CET until around midnight BST / 1.00am CET.

The PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

Users may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access PSN, but will be able to access online play and apps provided they've signed in prior to the beginning of the maintenance period.

Last week, Sony released and subsequently pulled PS3 firmware update 4.45 after it was found to be causing errors in what the platform holder termed a "small number" of consoles.

It later said: "A new PS3 system software update is planned to be released on June 27 that resolves the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding and we apologise for the inconvenience."

Firmware update 4.45 was designed to allow users to switch trophy notifications off via the System Settings menu and improve general performance.

Sony has applied for certification of two new PS3 models, suggesting revised versions of its current-gen console are in the works.

The company recently said it has no current plans to introduce a PS3 price cut, despite the fact that PS4 will be available this Christmas.

Item How far behind are you pal? You can play Xbox One offline now.

Also, as a specific reply to this comment, I even said in my comment "You may not be able to play SOME games offline still." implying that I was aware of the always online requirement removal, if a game uses their cloud processing system then it will be come potentially unplayable if you're not connected to Xbox Live, just as you can't play Sim City without an internet connection because the data is stored in the 'cloud' (EA's servers), if this happens with the Xbox One then they're not lying to you, because they can blame it on the developer for designing the game this way, the console has already been designed to be used with always online requirements, therefore it could be launched for any game at any time, no matter what gamers have to say about it.

Oasis Maybe he should do his research before calling people uneducated. Seems all his comments are aimed at flaming or causing trouble.

Did neither of you read what I wrote? I was writing about cloud processing being a potential requirement to run games properly, just as you needed the internet to play Sim City for example, I never once mentioned the always online requirement because I know that it's been removed from the console, but they can still indirectly apply it by giving the developers the ability to use it to improve their games, without it your games may not run. So not only are you all uneducated, you also can't read, congratulations.

Submit And 'This' is why I pay for Xbox Live.

See what I mean, another uneducated peasant that doesn't understand that servers need maintenance, grow up and go to school. If you can't survive 6 hours without playing multiplayer then you should probably start living, you should also note that if this happened on Xbox One then you may not be able to play some games offline still, thanks to their potential abuse of the apparent 'cloud processing' that they're using, basically a subtle version of an online requirement that they can blame the developer for.

OT. Hopefully this'll fix the issues some PS3 users had. Fingers crossed.

I wonder if Sony will mess up like this when the PS4 is out.

I seriously don't understand why this has made the news stories, all that it's going to do is cause Xbox fanboys to hurl non logical abuse about Sony in general, maintenance happens to every platform and game at some point, whether it be League of Legends, World of Warcraft or even a system like PlayStation.
