Microsoft exec promises 'huge' Xbox 360 unveil at E3

Microsoft has a 'huge' announcement for the Xbox 360 at this year's E3, despite this week's unveiling of the Xbox One.

Microsoft Game Studios executive Phil Spencer has pledged that the Xbox 360 still has plenty of life following the reveal of the company's next-gen console.
He told Gamespot that Microsoft will continue to support the platform for "years to come".

"I think the [Xbox 360] is going to be very vibrant for many years. In fact, we have a huge, I think it's huge, [Xbox 360] announcement for E3 that I keep wanting to talk about, but I can't." Spencer said.

"I think it will surprise people. I loved what we did last year with Minecraft; bring Minecraft to the box; six million units later it's kind of a beast. I think there's a lot of life in the [Xbox 360] for years to come."

Spencer's comments follow the news that Microsoft plans to release 15 exclusive games in the first year of Xbox One, eight of which will be brand new franchises.

Several third-party publishers will release cross-generation titles for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, including Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts and EA's Battlefield 4.

now there is no reason to buy the xbox one if the main games are still going to work on the 360

MoDOT So why do something for the 360 when the "one" is coming out???

Because not everyone is going to buy the One on release day? I have multiple friends that just got there first 360 for Christmas.

slapshot101 I think it is going to be a cheep console, that is like $99 or something like that. I don't think it is going to be something like a game.

C00KIEZZZ I wish they would allow you to talk to people on ps3 as well but they would allow that to work

Not likely at all, they are rival companies. Your best bet is to get your PS3 friends onto the PC version of Skype then you can maybe chat from your Xbox to them.

MPAA It isn't going to be anything like XBL being free.

XBL Party chat will turn into Skype Party chat which will enable cross-platform chat with PC users since they killed off MSN Messenger.

This has already being confirmed but the ability to cross-platform chat with PC users hasn't AFAIK

I'm assuming this is it, exciting? Not really, although MS may think so.
