Microsoft exec promises 'huge' Xbox 360 unveil at E3

Microsoft has a 'huge' announcement for the Xbox 360 at this year's E3, despite this week's unveiling of the Xbox One.

Microsoft Game Studios executive Phil Spencer has pledged that the Xbox 360 still has plenty of life following the reveal of the company's next-gen console.
He told Gamespot that Microsoft will continue to support the platform for "years to come".

"I think the [Xbox 360] is going to be very vibrant for many years. In fact, we have a huge, I think it's huge, [Xbox 360] announcement for E3 that I keep wanting to talk about, but I can't." Spencer said.

"I think it will surprise people. I loved what we did last year with Minecraft; bring Minecraft to the box; six million units later it's kind of a beast. I think there's a lot of life in the [Xbox 360] for years to come."

Spencer's comments follow the news that Microsoft plans to release 15 exclusive games in the first year of Xbox One, eight of which will be brand new franchises.

Several third-party publishers will release cross-generation titles for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, including Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts and EA's Battlefield 4.

I hope they bring out some long awaited games like Fallout or something.

Holy, that's good that they'll keep it alive.

newtonballs26 Is this the special announcement? They've already pissed me off pretty much with the fact that it's not backwards compatible.

Neither Xbox One nor PS4 will be backwards compatible. It isn't something they can help with all the new architecture.

There are certain titles I'm going to wanna play on the Xbox One, but I couldn't care! I bought them knowing that I'd only have them until the end of the 360, and if Microsoft did anything differently? I'd have a nice surprise :)

I love how so many are pissed about backwards compatibility not being available on the Xbox One. You guys want an outstanding new console? Then it's going to have to kick the hardware of the old console's ass. Simple as that, the Xbox 360 is simply too outdated for the Xbox One. Also if you don't like that it doesn't have the compatibility, KEEP YOUR XBOX THEN! No one is telling you to throw out the old box, they're just giving us something new and more advanced to get into. I believe the Xbox One will sell amazingly well, but this announcement should also bring more profit out of the Xbox 360.

This should be fun to see.

They finally realize that the xbox one wont sell as good. i dont have the money for a new console, games, and live.

MoDOT So why do something for the 360 when the "one" is coming out???

To show they care probably.

I hope it convinces me to keep my 360 lol
