Rumor - Next gen consoles may allow developers to self patch games

4.7
The giant issues that stem from the current generation of consoles if that EACH time a developer wants to publish a new patch they are required to submit it through the hardware makers internal QA department. While this at first implies better quality overall what happened was up to two month wait times for game NOT published by AAA studios. A example of this being that a CoD patch would be pushed through in the length of a week while a lesser known and played game like Phantasy Star Universe was plagued with month plus wait times for the patch to reach players.

The entire process means it is quite expensive to publish patches on these platforms. The rumor going around is that on the PS4 and the next xbox developers will be able to self-publish patches due to the devices both having been built with the well established PC x86 architecture. Keep checking back for details on their rumors here at TheTechGame!

-RageQuit- This would be a great addition to allow developers
to stop Hackers and people who mod ruining great games

Exactly, they will still get to hack, they will just get patched quicker.

Much, much quicker, if this happens I will be glad.

So many brilliant games got ruined by mods a great example is call of duty 4 that was an amazing game on xbox now every lobby is modded

Yeah, I never got to have fun with that game, I basically bought a 'hacked game'.

Well at least we know if this rumor goes through it will put a strain on the modding comunity

Yeah, there would be a lot of glitches

no? If developers could self patch games there would be little to no glitches... Yes, there will be glitches but they will last probably at max a week.

I meant wouldn't be a lot of glitches.

Nope not at all and would ban hackers on the spot

Yup no more modding for me
