Bungie's 'Destiny' to require a permanent online connection.

It was recently announced that Bungie's next shooter, Destiny, will require an internet connection in order to play, the studio confirmed at a press event.


The 'Shared World Shooter' will require a permanent online connection to power its persistent, emerging world, the studio stated.

"It's a persistent, shared and connected world, so you will need to be connected to the internet to play Destiny."

Destiny - which publisher Activision calls the world's first shared-world shooter - is built around co-op play and will include elements which are familiar to the massively multiplayer online genre (MMO), such as a persistent world, areas packed with players and quests designed to challenge sizeable groups.

Destiny was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the studio would not confirm a release on next-gen platforms, or PC.

Bungie is all over the place.


Meh, doesn't bother me much, they'll just get less sales on next-gens unless people enjoy it alot.


Recently they haven't been doing so well.

Meh, doesn't bother me much, they'll just get less sales on next-gens unless people enjoy it alot.

Only time I'm offline is if Internet is down.


Same goes for me, but I don't really like the idea of permanent online.


It has its goods and bads.


I suppose, but it's not like it'll be the only game you own.
