Report: Next Xbox to "kill" pre-owned, requires always on net connection

4.6
Sources claim to have word that the next-gen Xbox will require an always-on internet connection and will block the use of pre-owned games.

The source says that another source “with first hand experience” of the console adds that games will still be buyable, which are supplied on 50GB Blu-ray discs. It is understood that disc games will use an activation code.

So, no more going to the shops and buying cheap second-hand games? There has to be more people who think this is a bad idea by Microsoft.

Vampiric If this is real then sales of the next Xbox would be terrible.
There's normal teens out there who'd rather spend their money on clothes, booze etc
than paying full retail for a damn game.

It probably will be terrible.

Disorts its actually a good business idea. people abused used games. the developers don't get that lost money back. its just gonna be more like steam if you can't afford games then don't buy them simple as the but i know everyone will buy them. plus what if all nextgen console have patent tech ? are you gonna quit gaming ? no so quit b*t*hing.

And what about all those people who cant get broadband what are they gonna do? sounds like a good business idea when there are still alot of people who live in areas that cant get broadband

i have only 3 mbs from windstream, if you know about windstream you know they go down almost monthly and regularly suck.also 3 is the best they will offfer me,and is the only isp that will come to me so... this would suck, also if they switched to digital only, that bs would almost force me to stop gaming bc it takes around 1.5hrs to download 1gb so a full game would suck.

This is such a lie, whoever put this rumor out there is an idiot, they wouldn't want to lose that many users cause they'd lose money...

TheCheeseyNINJA This is a rumour not a fact! Until Microsoft actually announce this then you shouldn't believe this!

True but if it is a lot of people won't buy it

If I can't buy second-hand games I won't ever bother buying this console. I don't play Xbox much and tend to just pick up a cheap game every once in a while to play through. I'd rather spend my money on other things.

i doubt theres gonna be an activation code. obviously microsoft wants as much money as possible here. as they always do,im not gonna bother getting this xbox. sounds like shit from what i heard
