Report: Next Xbox to "kill" pre-owned, requires always on net connection

4.6
Sources claim to have word that the next-gen Xbox will require an always-on internet connection and will block the use of pre-owned games.

The source says that another source “with first hand experience” of the console adds that games will still be buyable, which are supplied on 50GB Blu-ray discs. It is understood that disc games will use an activation code.

So, no more going to the shops and buying cheap second-hand games? There has to be more people who think this is a bad idea by Microsoft.

Typical greedy microsoft. This doesn't stop piracy in anyway. Unless the game itself is 50gb, then all you need to do is download a game with a cracked cd key. How do you think poor pc gamers get good games? Plus if anybody played diablo 3, they know exactly how big of a fail its going to be to play single player games while having to stay online.

this will never happen.. as there are people that still don't have internet and play video games.

Should be obvious to everyone that this would just be an attempt to stop pirating games, by not allowing an already activated game to be played on a new console. What they should do is allow those of us who buy used games to purchase a new activation code, so we save a few bucks and they make a few more bucks off of an used game.

It's lame, but Microsoft is smart and will find a way to make it work at least alright...

What if you have one or more Xbox LIVE accounts? You only can use that one activation code on one account right? that's stupid. I don't mind be connected to the internet all the time but for the people who don't have internet that's stupid.

That sucks! My internet is genuinely shit (120kb max) So if I have to be on the internet at all times, how will I use other things at the same time?..

YourSaver Guys how would this even work? They need internet connection at all times? This is just a rumor they aren't that stupid some people don't even have internet....

Exactly. What if it's someone like an athlete for example, who buys on just to play while on the road on maybe a tour bus or something with no internet. You're telling me they won't be able to play it? What, will the system just not turn on?
Or a simple college dorm room...Many sales go to college students and alot of them dont have internet or atleast decent internet at all times

That's not a good idea. I really hate it, considering that you need to be connected to internet at all times to play. That's dumb.
