Report: Next Xbox to "kill" pre-owned, requires always on net connection

4.6
Sources claim to have word that the next-gen Xbox will require an always-on internet connection and will block the use of pre-owned games.

The source says that another source “with first hand experience” of the console adds that games will still be buyable, which are supplied on 50GB Blu-ray discs. It is understood that disc games will use an activation code.

So, no more going to the shops and buying cheap second-hand games? There has to be more people who think this is a bad idea by Microsoft.

This is a bad idea. What if you dont have internet or you forget to pay the bill. That means you bought a $400 system for no reason. And you cant play used games? Yup Microsoft is going to lose a lot of sales.

You guys really think that this would happen?
There's no way that Microsoft would do this, too many people would rant on and on and on about it.

gtapro151 i will stick with the 360 and ps3 and when they stop supporting that i will just retire from gaming the way there restricting everything we can do with the consoles is getting reticulated

This is bullshit, they have no logical reason to do this and even if they do they will only lose customers, people will go to PS3 (If they're not doing it) or PC! I always though PC is better anyway, I only really use Xbox LIVE for socializing. Either way it would be a really stupid move!

"The source says that another source"

Seems legit when sources refer to other sources who refer to other sources...

This is a very very bad idea. Even for renting games from shops, that wont work anymore. Stupid move my Microsoft in my opinion.

I never really bought pre-owned games anyway so doesn't really bother me
