Report: Next Xbox to "kill" pre-owned, requires always on net connection

4.6
Sources claim to have word that the next-gen Xbox will require an always-on internet connection and will block the use of pre-owned games.

The source says that another source “with first hand experience” of the console adds that games will still be buyable, which are supplied on 50GB Blu-ray discs. It is understood that disc games will use an activation code.

So, no more going to the shops and buying cheap second-hand games? There has to be more people who think this is a bad idea by Microsoft.

So what if we don't buy it? I assume we can still play pre-owned games? Therefor the sales won't be amazing...

That's stupid, so if you want to play a game you have to get the new version of it?

whoever came up with idea is surely smoking crack or has taken the fattest acid tab in the world, though i can see it coming ps3 was meant to be doing it but didnt cause they realized it was suicide.. eventually it will happen mainly now with this online pass bulls**t, all games seem to have it nowadays and the next cod will have it intergrated within the game, you will buy the game thats basically a shell and offers very little and the online MP will come at a premium price and will need constant internet to play these extra features.. boycotting the consoles will make them listen especially when sales plummet like a diabetics blood sugar level after a bottle of vodka... i say revolt and buy a game gear or gameboy f**k sony, f**k microshite.. if all else fails hack the hell out of the next gen hardware and destroy them at there own game, jtag and jailbreak.... hooooorah!!!

zredstarv1 Not going to happen because if your xbox 720 fries (like the Xbox 360 did on me; fried on December 20, 2005) the game keys or products keys will be lost for ever. For instance, on the OS's windows 7 and 8 the license key retrieves the information off your motherboard. Once your motherboard crashes, your license key is lost for ever and MS is not responsible. However on the Xbox 720, Microsoft would be responsible and have to replace all of your games because its their fault for having an ridiculous rule. Besides this required internet connection will not fly with gamer's because steam, origin, or what ever game client on PC does not require a online connection to play your library. This my predication, if the upcoming steam box coming out this year has ergonomic controllers, under 400 dollars, continues their amazing winter and summer sales, and comes out during the summer. Xbox, PS3 will be finished. Steams new big picture is basically like a console dashboard. All it is missing's is controllers for the gamer's who prefer a controller.

If this is it will definintly wipe out the other consoles, personally i nearly buy every game used no need to pay 25$ -$30 for a game that is almost a year old and many "gamers" don't have thier console connected to the internet.

Or they could just have your games and codes registered to your account, that way if you xbox breaks you could transfer licenses and game history, like they have now

Well i looked at the original post and it looked really fake because they were really trashing xbox but the original source has also been a long time supporter of playstation since they do topics on that the most. and plus microsoft supports the buying and selling of pre-owned games so they would never get rid of that. And the always on internet connection is Bull to, microsoft knows itll lose a third of it sales to people who cant play online and also they know if there servers fail people wont be able to get on either so basically its either a troll or a sony fanboy dont belive this B.S .
