Rumor: MW2 recalled in Russia due to 'No Russian' scene

4.4

The console version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has allegedly been recalled in Russia due to the controversial "No Russian" scene. Hellforge's translation of a Russian report claims that a censored console version will be released later this month in the region, and that an official patch removing the scene from PC and Steam versions is en route. It would seem that the choice of killing innocent Russian civilians in the scene isn't one that the government would like to leave up to players.
To make sure this report stays as "fair and balanced" as possible, we've contacted Activision and Infinity Ward for comment. Any Russia-based readers that can shed a little bit more light on the situation should feel free to contact us.

Alright. IW isn't racist, it creates a good storyline. That's why it's in a game. Blame the person who wrote the storyboard, not the entire IW community.

I'm Russian and I'm not offended by this because it is only a story and I live in America. But this could affect an enitre country, Russia's government chose to leave it out for the safety of their citizens.

Think of it in this way: if a story had a mission killing your family and relatives, you wouldn't want it there, regardless it being choosable or not.

So before you call IW racist and Russians ******, GTFO. Russia can blow the shit out of America anytime.

I wish we could have invaded Moscow, like Sgt. Foley said in the game. That would have really freaked out the Russians, huh?

Effectively, the russian government is practically annhiliating the opportunity for consumers of games, to have the choice of whether to play a certain level or not mainly because of their political position & power within the world, well, that's russian democracy for you. All business, no humor as usual.

Yet, if this game was picturing the americans in such a negative light, I bet they'd be pinning it up everywhere, heck there would most likely be more pin ups, than Jesus at the cross!

It's truly amazing, how one closed-minded person, who can't get his head out of his backside, can truly dictate a whole population's opinion. Wow, more democracy than Hussain & Mugabe put together...

ok i kno it seems really weird that IW put that scene in the game but i think they were trying to give the player an actual choice which is a rare thing in gaming. the idea was that it was supposed to be controversial to make the player think about their actions....but IW just went a lil overboard... and the reason it was recieved sooo badly is because it is in a game. Eg: if this were in a movie people would be huffing and puffing but there wouldnt be this much of a shit storm. it sucks but its the way gaming is seen atm.
