Apple targets eight Samsung products for sales ban

4.6
Apple won, and won big, in court last week when a San Jose, California jury said that Samsung must pay just over $1 billion for its violation of Apple's design patents. Now Apple has announced the list of devices from Samsung that wants to see banned from sale in the US.

News.com reports that the list of devices that Apple is targeting for its sales ban include several versions of the Galaxy S II smartphone. They include the Galaxy S 4G, the Galaxy S2 from AT&T, the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, the Galaxy S2 from T-Mobile, the Galaxy S2 Epic 4G, the Galaxy S Showcase, the Droid Charge and the Galaxy Prevail.

Apple says that while all of the products on its list violate its patents in some way, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G has the most. Apple claims that the device infringes on two of its design patents, along with three of its utility patents. The product's trade dress also violates two of Apple's designs, according to the company.

Samsung will almost certainly try to stop Apple's sales ban request. It has also said it plans to ask the judge in the case to overrule the jury's decision. If that fails to happen, Samsung plans to file a full appeal.

I disagree with the Apple vs. Samsung war. Because of it, more phones will be banned from consumers. While it may benefit the producer, the consumer pays the price for it. At this point the only smartphone that'll be left is the iPhone. Damn Apple..

Zev Apple are taking it to far, don't you think?

Apple want the majority market share, Samsung bought it on themselves by trying to copy Apple. I doubt the products will get banned though, it would give too much dominance to Apple in the smartphone market.

Then I guess so is Google? Wouldn't you do everything you could to protect what is rightfully owned by you? Why not let them?
