The Dead Space remake‘s release date has been announced.
The sci-fi horror game will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on January 27, 2023.
In a statement, Phillippe Ducharme, Senior Producer of Dead Space said:
“Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves.
“It’s been equally exciting to see players’ reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us,”
Ducharme also said that the game is “making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year”.
The original Dead Space follows Isaac Clarke, an everyman engineer on a routine mission to fix a gigantic mining starship, the USG Ishimura.
But aboard the Ishimura, a living nightmare awaits. The ship’s crew has been slaughtered and infected, and Isaac’s girlfriend, Nicole, is missing somewhere on board.
Motive has shown off the game in early development in various livestreams highlighting the improved sound design and visuals.
EA announced that it was working on a Dead Space remake with a short teaser trailer in July 2021.
Helmed by creative director Roman Campos-Oriola and former Assassin’s Creed Valhalla game director Eric Baptizat, the title is in development at Star Wars Squadrons studio Motive for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Built from the ground up with the Frostbite engine, it promises to deliver “an improved story, characters, gameplay mechanics and more”, which could include content cut from the original game and features introduced in the sequels.
