Rockstar Removing PS2 Versions of GTA from PS Store

4
The existing versions of GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas will be removed from the PS Store for purchase starting next week. With the announcement of GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, label Rockstar has said that it will be removing any legacy versions of the cult classics from digital storefronts. Of course, if you already purchased them then you’ll be able to redownload them at any time.

As of the time of writing, you can buy and play all three titles on PS3, PS4, and PS5 courtesy of Sony’s various PS2 Classics programs. These are emulated editions and lack the quality of life improvements being touted for this re-release, but they are quite cheap these days. We’re a little bit torn on this, as we can see why Rockstar would want to funnel people towards the re-releases, but there is obviously a concern about what the new versions will actually change.

Of course, those original PS2 discs will continue to be sold on eBay until the end of time – and they even have the full soundtracks intact.
