Assassin's Creed 2 is not afraid of no Call of Duty

4.7

I know what you're contemplating. You read the headline and you're expecting a report on some type of drama, maybe a member from one of the development teams was running their mouth? Maybe a high level exec at Ubisoft or Activision pulled a Kaz Hirai and lost their damn mind? Well I'm sorry to disappoint you because none of that is what this is about.

Now that we have that out of the way, the headline relates to Ubisoft saying that they aren't afraid to release Assassin's Creed 2 in close proximity to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. One week ahead of the Activisions game, which some believe could be the best selling game of all time. Ubisoft's Patrice Desilets sat down with VG247 during GamesCom and let the world know that they aren't scared of Infinity Ward's juggernaut.

“People, when they want their first-person shooter fix, they buy Modern Warfare. If you want you a swords, running on rooftops, big open city fix, this is it. And there are people that want to play that, and they don’t want to play the game with guns.”

The word thus far on Assassin's Creed 2 has been really positive. Considering the first one sold 9 million copies, despite being flawed with bang your head repititiveness, I'd say that's pretty good. But when Desilets rationalizes herhis bravado by referencing how Assassin's Creed released before the first CoD: Modern Warfare and managed to do extremely well, I think she'she's missing one little detail. Both games were being introduced to gamers for the first time in the same release window. One went on to be regarded as one of the best FPS's this generation, and the other was crapped on for being bang your head repetitive.

Personally I'm going to play through both of them, because I'm a nerd like that, but who knows how the rest of the gaming public will go.

Assassin Creed was an alright game and I liked it. A bit repetitive at times, but good. Assassin's Creed 2 isn't going to do so well this time around. CoD MW2 has the potential to be the most sold game of all time. This isn't a very bright idea by Ubisoft. They should of realized that they could of sold more if they pushed it back a little.

Assasins creed 1 was a total let down had so much potential but it was just too repetitive if the upcomming sequel incorporates RPG elements and fixes the games repetitive nature then it probally will out sell MW2.

i think it will be a good game but they should be afraid o infinty ward. They might get 10m copies this time around....but infinty ward will sell a lot more :)

Yea it seems like blind faith is what the producers are pushing it through with. I would consider getting it, but not when MW2 comes out as it is going to cost 100 euro in 2 weeks. I'm not going to spend money like that. They should realise that the people who buy most of there games are students and there arnt exactly know for being rich, lol
