343 claims ‘no plans’ to bring Halo 5 to PC, despite leak

Halo 5 is not coming to PC any time soon, despite its appearance on a recently leaked Nvidia Geforce Now database, developer 343 has claimed.

A datamine by developer Ighor July leaked earlier this week uncovered potential listings for many unannounced games, including Gears 6, a Steam version of God of War and a PC port of Halo 5.

The news caused some members of the Halo community to speculate on social media that Halo 5 could indeed be coming to PC, but Halo community director Brian Jarrard poured cold water on the discussion on Tuesday.

Jarrard replied to two Halo fans on Twitter, confirming that 343 Industries is not working on a Halo 5 port, and there are no plans for one in the future.

“Maybe this was for [Halo 5 Forge] but I can confirm there are no plans to bring Halo 5 to PC,” Jarrard replied.

“We know there’s some demand for it, but as we’ve stated before, not in the cards as the studio is fully focused on [Halo] Infinite and [Master Chief Collection]. Will never say never, but nothing underway currently.”

Although Nvidia has since confirmed that the leaked list of titles on its database is real, it stresses that the games in the list were ‘speculative’.

An Nvidia spokseperson confirmed to Wccftech that the list was used only for internal testing, and that the games listed don’t necessarily exist.

“Nvidia is aware of an unauthorized published game list, with both released and/or speculative titles, used only for internal tracking and testing”, the spokesperson explained. “Inclusion on the list is neither confirmation nor an announcement of any game.

“Nvidia took immediate action to remove access to the list. No confidential game builds or personal information were exposed.”

While Halo 5 may not be coming to PC any time soon, Halo Infinite is, and the game’s full PC system requirements were confirmed last month.

“Halo Infinite is built for PC,” according to the title’s Steam listing. “From advanced graphics settings, ultrawide/super ultrawide support and triple-key binds to features like dynamic scaling and variable framerates, Halo Infinite is the best Halo experience on PC to date.”
