Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi Jokingly Compares PS5 To A Huge Router

You're not the only one thinking Sony's PS5 looks like something you'd be asked to try turning on and off again.

The latest SegaNama stream happened on October 27, featuring as usual Toshihiro Nagoshi and Ayana Tsubaki. The final part of the stream was the usual “Ask Nagoshi anything” segment. In particular, one of the questions sent in asked Toshihiro Nagoshi about what kind of problems developers like Sega encounters when developing for new hardware. Triggering a discussion on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Toshihiro Nagoshi explained that rather than having problems with development, it’s more like having trouble deciding where to develop. And picking what unique feature of each console they should focus on as selling points for their games. Or whether they shouldn’t focus on specific console features, to focus on multi-platform instead.

Toshihiro Nagoshi jokingly mentioned the PS5 could be mistaken with a huge router, and how the Xbox Series X really looks like a box. He also praised both next-gen consoles and their makers. And for developers like him, new consoles always meant a lot of new things to do and more work, but it’s another step is the right direction to bring us better games.

Toshihiro Nagoshi also mentioned how Sony with PS5 and Microsoft with Xbox Series X keep upping the specs of their consoles and advertising those as selling points. While Nintendo with the Switch has a different strategy.
