GTA 5 to be digital only game?

Ahead of the reveal of the first GTA V trailer tomorrow, gaming-focused market research and consulting firm Newzoo has speculated that the title will be download only.In a new report covering DLC, pre-owned and digital distribution, which was passed along to IndustryGamers, CEO Peter Warman said: "There are a lot of reasons why publishers are pushing towards digital distribution of triple-A games.

"Speaking out loud might harm the relationship with retail partners, but the benefits have become too large to remain silent about the desire to go completely digital. The ultimate objective being to launch games faster, create continuous revenues on a title and simply to make more money.

"Will retail disappear from the picture? Of course not," he continued. "Retail will always remain an important channel to promote and distribute games. Retail has a strong hand to play when it comes to eyeballs and... boxes make a nice gift.

"Boxed games will not disappear, but what is in the box will. That is why the boxed GTA V version will contain a collectible piece of merchandise and a download code. No disc."

Tomorrow's debut GTA V trailer should finally reveal the much speculated about setting for the game, which is rumoured to be based on real-world Los Angeles.

And my download speed is pretty good.

I don't really mind but why don't they just put it on 3-4 disks like they did with LA Noire? Would that not be better? Still I don't mind this happening!

If the code were good for about 3 downloads, I wouldn't care. But if it were only good for 1 download, I would hate it because what if your Xbox or Ps3 had broke? Your screwed. I way much prefer the disc.

My download speed is 500kbs, ye i know its shit but im just thinking they should already know that there must be another way or there going to loose out. uck knows what im going to do if i want to play this game

I have a very fast download speed and an unlimited badnwidth but if this doesn't come out on disk, I will not be buying it.

even if this game was only a download only game, it wouldnt be that big in size? GTA IV is only 6gb So... this would ony be 6-8 depends on how big the map is tbh

my internet speed is 1.5meg dsl and it sucks just downloading DLC.

downloading a complete game 6.8 gigs would take me about 12 hours.

count me out!!
