GTA 5 to be digital only game?

Ahead of the reveal of the first GTA V trailer tomorrow, gaming-focused market research and consulting firm Newzoo has speculated that the title will be download only.In a new report covering DLC, pre-owned and digital distribution, which was passed along to IndustryGamers, CEO Peter Warman said: "There are a lot of reasons why publishers are pushing towards digital distribution of triple-A games.

"Speaking out loud might harm the relationship with retail partners, but the benefits have become too large to remain silent about the desire to go completely digital. The ultimate objective being to launch games faster, create continuous revenues on a title and simply to make more money.

"Will retail disappear from the picture? Of course not," he continued. "Retail will always remain an important channel to promote and distribute games. Retail has a strong hand to play when it comes to eyeballs and... boxes make a nice gift.

"Boxed games will not disappear, but what is in the box will. That is why the boxed GTA V version will contain a collectible piece of merchandise and a download code. No disc."

Tomorrow's debut GTA V trailer should finally reveal the much speculated about setting for the game, which is rumoured to be based on real-world Los Angeles.

so will we all hav to upgread to the 320 gb hdd so we can hold our games on our hdd.... then we would hav to delete old games to make room for new games

What game developers need to understand not everyone has 250GB internet bandwidth and 50Mbps download speeds. This game is going to take like 2 days to download for some people.

I would Understand if the game was like 10 GigS But if its regular size then no. I like physical Discs

The only possible way this could happen is if microsoft comes out with a kiosk that you can play your HHD/USB and then perchase the game and download it uber quick. If this does happen games should drop down to $40-$45 for the digital download just like pc games when they come out and pre ordering games would be SOOOOOOO much more easier, think about it...for example you go online a buy GTA 5 and at 12 when it comes out you get an email with a code and then you get your game quicker and no need to go to the midnight release or take your HHD or USB and go to a kiosk and get you game with your code.

MaddenNFL this is pretty dumn. I buy games and share with my brother. if it becomes digital how can you share games? it will be good if it was cheaper/and if you can share it with other xbox's but then again they would be losing money. IDK I doubt this will happen


to add to this. I wouldnt mind having the game be $60 and be a 40GB game. Think about it the map would be huge
