Analyst Predicts Modern Warfare 3 Sales will Double Battlefield 3

Sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are likely to hit 16 million units in the fourth quarter of the year, according to Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, who believes Battlefield 3 will sell eight million copies globally during the same timeframe.

Pachter told Forbes that the two rival shooters should generate over $1.4 billion in revenue in the three month period, representing 15 percent of total packaged game sales.

He also thinks Modern Warfare 3 could sell an additional eight million copies in 2012 and Battlefield 3 another two million units, with many gamers choosing to pick up both games.

"I'd guess that around half of the console copies of Battlefield 3 will be bought by people who also buy Modern Warfare 3, so around two to three million will buy both," he said. "I don't see much cannibalization of the titles."

I doubt you've played them all, or even the most recent one (BF:BC2), as it's an amazing game and personally I find it much more fun than MW2 or Black Ops.

Ambicidal Don't care much for sales.

I want to buy the better game. Battlefield 3.

No Ms. MW3 fanboy, not opinion and preference.

-One game has over 60 awards. The other has 15.
-One has a groundbreaking new engine. The other is using the same engine since Quake 3.
-One has a friendly community. The other's community is filled with those under the age of 13.

So, you see? One game is good. The other is not as good.

Battlefield 3 > Modern Warfare 3.
