Sunset Overdrive On PS4 Teased by Insomniac Games?

3.5
Update: Though this tweet and several others about Sunset Overdrive may seem sudden, it’s not out of the ordinary for Insomniac Games. The studio has been tweeting about its older titles like Resistance and Spyro the Dragon for some time now. For now, the most recent tweet should be taken as a continuation of this trend and nothing more.

Original Story:

Insomniac Games has been pretty heavily featured this generation, thanks in no small part to the stellar Spider-Man on PS4. It was also acquired by Sony back in August 2019, providing that extra amount of support for the upcoming PlayStation 5. So imagine how strange it is to see Insomniac suddenly tweet about Sunset Overdrive, which released for the Xbox One back in 2014 and was ported to PC in 2018.

There isn’t much to the tweet, save for an image from The Mystery of Mooil Rig DLC and the line “That looks…infected.” And while it could just be the developer having some fun, it could also be a tease leading to something bigger. Sunset Overdrive on the PS4? Perhaps a sequel for the PS5?

It’s hard to say. Sony has commented on the franchise before, noting that it was focused on the Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank franchises. However, when Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida was asked if he was worried about the IP’s future, he said that the company owned the rights to all of Insomniac’s past works. “Insomniac is a powerful developer, so I can only say that I am looking forward to future titles.”

Not much clarification, for sure, but that just makes this recent tweet all the more exciting. We’re going to have to wait for more information in the meantime.
