Observer: System Redux is a next-gen remaster of the critically-acclaimed title that is slated to arrive at the end of 2020.

Originally released back in 2017, Bloober Team is looking to bring its cyberpunk horror title Observer to next-gen hardware later in 2020.

The newly announced Observer: System Redux was formally revealed today via a new trailer that showcases the game’s improved graphical prowess on the soon-to-be-released platforms. While these overhauled visuals are one of the most notable new features of System Redux, Bloober Team is also said to be making some changes to the gameplay and story. The studio is referring to this as the “definitive version” of the experience and is planning to release System Redux in Q4 2020.

It’s worth noting that the press release and verbiage around this next-gen iteration of Observer doesn’t mention the PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms by name. However, it’s safe to assume that System Redux will indeed be heading to both of these consoles later this year after each formally releases. A specific launch date for Observer: System Redux will likely be given as we get closer to the holiday season.



Observer was critically well-received when it released back in 2017 and received high marks from us here at DualShockers. Since that time, the game has also come to the Nintendo Switch, making it available on all current-gen hardware.

Additionally, Observer has become more notable in recent months as it was one of the final projects that actor Rutger Hauer was involved in before his death in 2019. Bloober Team says it looks upon Observer as a tribute to Hauer, previously stating that it was an honor to be able to work with him before his passing.
