World War Z Cross-Play Support Has Been Pushed to Early Next Year

4.2
Saber Interactive will be bringing cross-play support to their zombie shooter World War Z, sometime in early 2020.

World War Z was officially revealed back in 2017, and once it launched earlier this year it sold over 1 million copies in its first week. The game, developed by Saber Interactive looks to be getting cross-play at some point next year according to publisher Focus Home Interactive.

The news was delivered through a forum post earlier this month detailing the new Horde Mode Z update. The new mode pits hordes of zombies against the four players in a bid to survive for as long as possible. Additionally, a new Bomber Zombie has been introduced to the game which, as the name suggests, explodes. Well, when killed the zombie drops an explosive, so it’s kind of the same thing. Players get a window in which to disarm the explosive and if successful will find themselves rewarded with valuable loot.

This update does mean that the introduction of PvE cross-play and new cosmetics is being pushed to sometime in early 2020. This was to ensure that the release of the new update ran smoothly with as little issues as possible. The paid character skin DLC will come at a later date along with free cross-play support and new cosmetics. The updated roadmap can be found below, but also in the official forum post.
