PS5 Players Can Play with PS4 Players Using Backwards Compatibility

4.1
When you stop to think about it, this should be pretty obvious, but it's nice to have it confirmed by Sony all the same. Yes, PS5 players will be able to play with PS4 players thanks to backwards compatibility. If you nab a PS5 at launch but your PS4 friends don't, you'll still be able to enjoy your favourite online titles with them. Again, it's all about this "seamless" next-gen transition that Sony keeps mentioning.

Cross-generation play was brought up during the company's most recent investor relations question and answer session. When talking about backwards compatibility in general, vice president John Kodera was quick to add that cross-generation play will be important to the PlayStation community. Keeping existing players invested is clearly of high priority to Sony as it looks to introduce the PS5, supposedly next year.

Xbox 360 had party chat before ps3
Xbox one had backwards compatibility before ps5.
Remember who paved the way for gamers

Xbox one is backwards compatible to 360 so it's likely Microsoft will continue that trend

Microsoft has XCloud in its final stages

New xbox will be revealed on E3 2019

Rauben THANK GOD but what about xbox ...

The implementation is fine. I have no idea what your talking about. I have every call of duty including the xbox 360 versions and I can download my DLCs and multiole downloads without a problem. I still have my save games I can create parties via xbox one or via xbox 360. I can go to gamechat. I can download on xbox one and play on 360. i have never encountered a problem playing my 360 discs on xbox one. if you have everything set up properly and know how to navigate the emulator then you are set with no problems. with that being said the 360 emulator on xbox one is way better then having the actual console. I notice faster loading times and smoother gameplay on all my favorite games (GoW, halo 3, cod4, mw2). its actually better which makes sense if you have ever ran gameboy or gamecube emulator on a PC or Android phone it is way better then the actual console. So as someone who has many xbox 360 games and I still play them with DLCs on my original gamertag I find your comment false. the 360 emulator on xbox one works exactly as it should. there is a learning curve but when you know what to do its perfect. I still have my 360 and prefer to use the xbox one emulator

Mario350 if i could play cod ghosts 2/mw4 and cod 4 remastered im fing down for bc, as long as the ps5 also has ps3 bc as well

TheUnholy1994 Xbox one already does that with 360. Just saying. MS beat them in that

true true but considering its poorly implemented considering its being emulated which suffers at some points depending the game, also if youre downloading something on a different device you cant connect to 360 or xbox ones xbl which is the part that suffers for emulation, but yeah kinda stupid that sony is farther behind nintendo but also behind microsoft with bc feature
