DICE Defends Position on Launch DLC for Battlefield 3

4.5
Yesterday, word got out of a boycott kickstarted by Battlefield 3 fans who were furious over pre-order customers getting rewarded with extra multiplayer content that regular consumers wouldn't be able to obtain. Hoping to stamp out this potential imbalance, over 3,000 gamers joined the cause.

Developer DICE has responded to the issue, defending the decision to reward pre-orders with extra content while assuring fans that it won't create a gross advantage online.

"We believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers -- such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge." said the company in a Q&A. "... The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way."

So there you are. I wouldn't be too concerned though, it's not like EA to not want to sell you that DLC later anyway, even if it's exclusive to pre-orders for now.

EChondo I have to agree with those 3,000 gamers, If I BUY the game BRAND NEW then I should get the everything than anyone else should get. Just because you put $5 down for a preorder for a game that won't sell out day one at ANY store means they should get extra or early content.
I agree with you. I don't think others should be able to get extra content just for preordering it. But the other thing is it is only $5 so it wouldn't cost much to preorder plus you get extras.
