H1Z1 Pro League is Shutting Down Due to Low Viewership

4.1
The H1Z1 Pro League is shutting down according to ESPN. This comes after dwindling viewers and failed stipend payments to participating teams. Teams including Clou9, Team SoloMid and Echo Fox all have active rosters in the league, despite repeated stipend payment failures.

Twin Galaxies Co-Chairmen Jace Hall wrote out to players:

“It’s with a heavy heart that a letter has been sent to the League’s team organizations providing notice that the 2nd Split has been suspended indefinitely, and that a second league season will not be renewed or scheduled at this time,”

According to Hall, they are working on paying previously owed stipends to teams and players. The total stipends promised to be paid across the 15 participating teams was reported around $3 million, breaking down to $250,000 of that going towards players salaries.

With the failed payments, certain teams including Cloud9, Team SoloMid, and Counter Logic have reportedly had to pay players salaries at a net loss. With such an impacting closure of this league, it seems almost certain that professional-level H1Z1 is dead.

It’s unfortunate that one of the first games to break into the Battle Royale genre has hit such low numbers compared to the gigantic success games such as Fortnite and PUBG have hit. You can play H1z1 now on PS4 and PC.

Crazy numbers honestly, and while it's unfortunate, such is life in the industry.

Crazy to see H1Z1 really dying. Quite sad as it helped start games like PUBG and Fortnite I think
