There’s a lot of news swirling around that’s negative, and sometimes it’s hard to take a look at the good things in life. But don’t worry, Summer Games Done Quick 2018 has something heartwarming to restore some degree of faith in humanity. In fact, they have 2.12 million reasons for you to feel good, and that would be the $2.12 million just raised for charity in the Summer Games Done Quick 2018.

Yes, Summer Games Done Quick 2018 has drawn to a close, and with it, they have raised $2.12 million for Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières, a non-profit organization that delivers emergency medical aid worldwide to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. It’s a great organization, and it’s nice to see video games have a tangible, real-world benefit amidst the controversy and negativity often surrounding video games.

Last year, SGDQ 2017 raised more than $1.7 million for Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières, so they beat their record from last year, which is great. To date, Games Done Quick events have raised more than $16 million for charities, including Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Organization for Autism Research, and CARE.

SGDQ 2018 took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Bloomington, MN and ran continuously from June 24-July 1. Additionally, Awesome Games Done Quick 2019 will take place January 6-13 in Rockville, MD; the next Games Done Quick event will be Games Done Quick Express at TwitchCon on October 26-28, 2018 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, CA. The event will support charities participating in TwitchCon’s Charity Plaza.

GDQ is one of the biggest rip offs. I'd be surprised if they donate even half of that money to actual charities.
