Modern Warfare Remastered Receives Supply Drops and Microtransactions

4.5
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s December update is now rolling out worldwide, bringing six new maps, numerous cosmetic items and female soldiers to Raven Software’s first-person shooter.

However, the update is also introducing a surprising – and in many quarters, unwelcome – addition, in the form of supply drops and microtransactions via Call of Duty Points. It’s worth noting that supply drops contain only cosmetic items at present, and can also be earned with in-game depot credits as well as purchased with real money via COD Points.

Users will also be able to craft many of the items provided in supply drops with Parts, which can be acquired by playing the game’s various modes.

The changes are coming via title update 1.06, which weighs in at 27GB for Xbox One users and approximately 8GB for PC and PS4 players.

Barclay Way to go activision, you ruined the one thing that was keeping your company alive in the eyes of true call of duty fans

You'll live, I enjoy the minor cosmetic/miscellaneous changes within the game. Is all of this truly gamebreaking? Some people need to get off their high horse, I'm honestly glad that I can relive and older game with much support and additions that I'm familiar with now.

We all know Activision screws us over for the sake of profit, but this time around (due to popular demand nonetheless) we get two games in one price (unless it's a digital download). Furthermore, and do correct me if I'm wrong, we get these additions for free!

Don't be quick to say Activision "ruined it", that hasn't happened as of yet. Lets pray that there are no gamebreaking features in the long run. Infinite warfare added the UMP and Intervention, but they are nowhere near as OP as in MW2, so I'm not even worried about weapon additions.

If it's solely for the sake of nostalgia, while I admit that it sucks that we can't have a pure remaster of CoD MW, just relying on nostalgia isn't for everyone. However, Activision keep it true to MW! Since when were swords and shovels commissioned? I'd like complementary additions, not odd things nobody really cares for. Supply drops are fine with me as long as it stays to aesthetics. It usually goes downhill from there.....Lets pray its not the case!

Wanted this at release, held out till standalone. Don't think ill even bother if standalone at this point.. 'cosmetic' is where all the shit starts.

I am kind of enjoying the update other than the melee weapons. As long as it's cosmetic I'm fine.

FibreOp Omg, what's next? Adding exo suits to the players? It's COD4 for a reason, keep it classic.

Yep, I can see another futuristic cod happening in 2017. I wouldn't doubt another remaster either, with supply drop. lol

They are just trying to make more money.

I honestly don't even know why they did this, but like most people are acting, it doesn't break the game. Not mad at all!

I guess they really are taking ideas from Valve and realized that it will make them millions more as people are stupid enough to get trapped in this.
