Last month during Microsoft’s E3 conference, Microsoft showed off many games but Crackdown 3 was absent from the show as the game has been delayed to next year. Now, Xbox marketing manager Aaron Greenberg has explained the reason behind this decision.

Speaking with TXR podcast, Greenberg said that the reason that Microsoft has so many games coming out this year, that he is more than happy to see Crackdown 3 to release in 2017 rather than be crammed in 2016.

We don’t need the game this year,” he said. “We’ve got ReCore, we’ve got Forza Horizon 3, we’ve got Gears of War 4, we’ve got Dead Rising 4–just on the stuff we’re publishing before you get to all the great third-party titles. We have a great partnership with EA around Madden, around Battlefield.

He further said that Microsoft is being very thoughtful about spreading its title, and don’t want to just squeeze all titles to release on holiday.

We’ve been more thoughtful about spreading out our titles over the next year; not cramming them all into [the holiday season],” he said. “Giving people time to play games; to have time and money to be able to go buy the next game. When we look at that [holiday 2016] window of time, we sure didn’t need another big AAA game, and so we’d rather give the team time and bring that out sometime next year.

Crackdown 3 will be using IKinema’s RunTime technology to create the animations for the game, and Peter Connelly, the Executive Producer of Microsoft Studios, is very confident of the partnership.

According to Connelly, using IKinema’s RunTime technology into their game has enabled their characters to react believably to the dynamically changing environments. IKinema said that with their technology, devs can create characters of different proportions during gameplay.

Crackdown 3 is a sandbox style third person shooter game developed by Sumo Digital exclusively for PC and Xbox One.
