If you're not owed it and is entirely a fault on their end yes I suggest you contact them as spending money that's not intentionally giving to you is against the law be honest or dishonest either way you will have to give the money back.

Thanks. So for example they have paid me for the last two months and I left two months ago. They owed me a bit of money as I always stayed over time and they never noted it down so say I finished at 9pm id stay till 9.15 and they would never note it and this happened over a year and a half so I called them and they said speak to your manager and I said I don't work there any more then they called me later that day and said we over paid you, you owe us x amount. So do I owe it to them as I haven't worked the last 2 months or not as it was their mistake?

If they're unintentionally paying you for work you are no longer doing, yes they can and will try to get it back. Especially if they told you they over paid you.

Either you give it back or they'll probably try to take you to court for it.

You will have to pay that amount back, even if they messed up. There is times my job messed up my paycheck and I had to either pay it back or hire a lawyer and provide proof It was owed to me. Honestly just easier to pay it back and not have them come after your ass.
