No, i would pay for it to be washed and waxed and cleaned professionally, but not detailed. Leave that to the buyer.

How much would you pay for a wash, wax and clean? And surely the buyer can knock money off if it's not fully cleaned e.g. show room standard?

Depends what car really, if its a bentley or Rolls Royce, then i would expect it to be CLEAN, but obviously not showroom standard, if i wanted showroom i would buy it brand new.

Used cars, pay whatever yo are comfortable paying. 20-30 bucks sounds like plenty for a good nice wash and wax inside and out.

They are paying for the car at the end of the day, not the wax used.

A £5000 Fiesta. I'll be honest, I sold it to We Buy Any Car, if you don't know what that is it's basically a company you can sell your car to for a guaranteed sale, and they knocked off £500 as the condition in terms of how clean it was is "very poor", I asked them what they do with the cars and they said they go to auction after they have been detailed etc, after I left I googled the price of a detail it said £500.

"Once they have been detailed." Im guessing that have an internal part of the company or deal with an external company to do the detailing. I am from south east london, and you get the polish lot to wash them for a tenner or so. They do a good job as well. If it was a private sale i would be a bit more worried, but they most likely do it themselved before auction. I would get a simple wash and wax, hoover inside and call it a day

Sorry because you said bucks I assumed you were from America. Fair enough you could pay £10-£20 and get the polish people to do it but thats not going to be good enough as there's a bit of a difference between a £20 clean and a £500 detail ok lets consider with a detail part of the £500 is paying for the time of the detailer, which is around 16 hours/2 days based on a 8 hour shift, anyway what I'm saying there's a bit of a difference between a 20 minute clean for £20 and a 16 hour detail for £500.
