Harmonaz wrote Definitely not planning to overclock. I was just skimming through the manual and there just seems to be so much to this motherboard...

Yaeh, just enable XMP/DOCP then and you'll be good to go. Maybe update BIOS if you want/need. Nothing else you should need to do in the BIOS.

Harmonaz wrote Just when I decided not to get a second m2... ok at the very least I'll wait till I get back from work which should be another 2 hours. If its still at that price... dagnammit!!!!

At that price, I would probably just get the Sabrent Rocket over the 660p. The 660p is a better option when it's 15-20 quid cheaper IMO, but since it's even less now, the Sabrent Rocket is the better of the 2. I'd just get the 1 for now, save that 2nd m.2 slot in case you want it in the future.

This sale should be live until just before midnight tonight, but who knows if stock is gonna run out fast.

Well my 660p doesn't appear to have shipped yet, but CCL is closed now so by the time I call them up tomorrow, that deal will have gone...
Screw it. I'll get the Sabrent. I hope CCL will be nice to me, given there's a good chance I'll get the TUF off them... otherwise I'll have UNINTENTIONALLY ended up with two m2's
EDIT - got my sites mixed up. Doesn't look like ccl will be one of the winners when it comes to the TUF...

EDIT - Ordered

Ah, 660p was already ordered. In that case, the 660p itself is fine. Or you can get one of each, the 660p and the Sabrent Rocket. They're both ridiculously good value drives anyway tbh, not gonna hurt having one of each in your system.

So just the motherboard left to order then? CCL might have some decent Black Friday deals. eBuyer, Overclockers, Scan, and maybe Aria are others to look out on. As well as Amazon, of course. Fingers crossed because I've barely seen any good deals anywhere so far, other than that Sabrent Rocket coming down 25%.

*Edit*
Yup, had to buy one at that price lol. Looks like I'm getting another SSD tomorrow then

Seems like it. Constantly refreshing searches... no movement. I just hope I receive everything by next weekend since it'll be hard to concentrate on building it during the week.

Having ordered the Sabrent, I'm not particularly bothered about cancelling the 660p though I have already emailed them. I'm REALLY happy with the components that were decided on, and I think that second m2 just makes it more awesome. Its almost some kind of gaming rig without the cooling and stupidly powerful graphics card. Even without a display or peripherals, I reckon £1046 is reasonable. It better bloody work

So... what else can I waste money on while I wait lol. Was thinking about the 3 fans you mentioned - is just one of those on the front with the two stock any improvement i.e. would that be a 'compromise' between pure stock and 3 new?

If they do cancel the 660p, I'll definitely bite if another deal like today's pops up.

Yeah, motherboards are definitely one of the components that vendors can afford to cut pricing on. Whether we'll actually see motherboard deals or not is another question. Last Black Friday was shitty(at least here in the UK), and so far this one is looking pretty poor other than the Sabrent Rocket deal Hoping you'll be able to get 30-40 quid off that X570 TUF. Should have most parts by this weekend if it's already all ordered tbh, maybe one or 2 things will arrive later and then the mobo of course, whenever you order it.

Yeah, fair enough. No harm having the 2 SSD's to be fair, and they should last you a good while without you having to even consider a storage upgrade, other than maybe adding a 2-3TB mechanical HDD.

Harmonaz wrote Its almost some kind of gaming rig without the cooling and stupidly powerful graphics card. Even without a display or peripherals, I reckon £1046 is reasonable. It better bloody work

Oh yeah, it's a super solid system, especially with the 3700x in it for that price. Plus, you have the GPU in there which will let you play any game you want if you feel like it. You might not be maxing out settings on really demanding games, but you'll definitely be achieving better than console graphics/performance.

Harmonaz wrote So... what else can I waste money on while I wait lol. Was thinking about the 3 fans you mentioned - is just one of those on the front with the two stock any improvement i.e. would that be a 'compromise' between pure stock and 3 new?

I'd probably just use the 2 stock case fans as intake in the front, and then add a 3rd fan in the rear as exhaust.
Either that, or just buy 3 case fans and replace the 2 stock.

Advantages of replacing the stock fans would be less noise and/or better cooling, that's really it. Maybe if you're interested, you could look at getting a nice RGB case fan for the rear of the case? Though you're looking at like 20-30 quid for a decent RGB fan;
uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/FJx2F...9050075-ww
Could get something cheaper than that if you wanted, but that's a decent choice for an RGB fan. Keep in mind, you'll only fit a 120mm fan in the rear of the NZXT H510, no space for a 140mm. I would put 2 x 140mm fans in the front if you upgrade them, but the 2 x 120mm fans included will be fine in the front of the case if you'd rather save £20-50 than buy new fans.

All really depends on whether you prefer cooling, less noise, aesthetics, or saving money.

21 wrote actually check what BIOS revision it is running. You might not have to update the BIOS at all.
I thought it would be an easy thing to check but I just can't find an obvious answer unless I'm missing something obvious - what version does it need to be? Is x570 good to go with the 3700x regardless of version? Updating shouldn't cause any problems right?

Won't need RGB. Machine will be tucked away under the desk in a well lit room. Only thing I need to worry about is dust and cleaning. Maybe its worth sacrificing some table space for it in order to minimize exposure to dust. I do not want it to end up looking anything like my old pc...

Depending on where I get the TUF from, I might include a 120mm fan if its included in the free shipping. I'm guessing I should aim for the same model you mentioned, just the 120mm version?

Updating the BIOS definitely won't cause any issues, unless you try to update it with the wrong BIOS. There isn't really a certain BIOS you'll need, but you'll likely have a better time with the most recent BIOS. That said, the X570 motherboard will work with the 3700x out of the box, no need for an update for that. I'm sure some AM4 motherboards with certain BIOS revisions were having a hard time with Red Dead 2, I think it was the 1003ABBA BIOS, but we're on 1004 now I'm sure? You could honestly just leave the BIOS as is if you can't be bothered updating it lol.

Just clean it out every so often with a can of compressed air and you'll be fine. I definitely wouldn't have my system on the floor, unless it's wood maybe but I'd still personally have mine on my desk tbh.
So yeah, if not interested in RGB or looking for a silent system, the 2 stock fans will be fine as intake, then grab a 3rd fan(120mm Pure Wings 2) for exhaust in the rear.

Yeah, this is what I'd be looking at for a 120mm fan;

Understood. I'll give updating the BIOS a go. For a software engineer with a Computing degree from a top uni, I should jump off a cliff if I can't even manage that...

Carpet floor that isn't vacuumed every day... nah this baby getting on the table lol

Hi, Thank you for contacting our support team. Unfortunately, this has already been dispatched. You can return the 660p drive to us once you received it if you wish?

Minimum 3 units. Too expensive from the other sites. Any others you'd recommend? I can get this one from another seller for Wednesday arrival - £12 though. £10 if I just include it with the TUF which I'm assuming will be from Amazon - thats fine I guess.

Got the 3700x today, 1660 Super and 660p estimated tomorrow, and Sabrent estimated Wednesday. TUF not budging yet...

Checked my searches this morning and my £185 TUF was gone. Is still on a few other sites for the same price, but delivery charges on top. Fortunately found it for £182 from same place that I got the 3700x. Unfortunately they didn't have a decently priced 120mm fan so I've missed out on that...

Gone ahead and ordered as the stock went from 2 to 1 as I was typing this. Gonna be so gutted if it suddenly drops even more lol
